Maryna Riepnova
"We have the power to change this reality with such a simple tool as color."
Old Town
Andalusia watercolors
A selection from the Andalusia in Watercolors series, shown a short walk from some of the actual streets it was painted in — the same ochre walls, the same agave catching the light at the edge of a dirt path, home ground for once instead of somewhere passed through.
01Andalusia in Watercolors
I painted these on location across Andalusia, standing in the street, at the edge of the sea, in fields that were still warm in November. Watercolor on location gives you one session and no reworking. From autumn 2025 through late spring 2026, I painted what was there.
Beyond Wilder Horizons
There is a point in the desert where the horizon stops being a boundary and becomes an invitation. These paintings live in that space, beyond what the eye can hold, into what the body feels.
Portraits in Watercolors
Figures from another century, painted in watercolor rather than the oil they would have sat for. The whites are not paint — they are paper left alone and worked around. The darks are the opposite: layer over layer until the background is almost solid. I wanted to see what the medium does when you ask it for both at once.

Questions
Who is Maryna Riepnova?

What style does Maryna Riepnova paint in?
Maryna works in contemporary figurative painting, working mainly in watercolor, and also in oil and acrylic. Her palette is deliberately oversaturated.
